The uPVC vs brick guide weighs the two builds honestly, and the planning guide explains permitted development, building regulations and covenants in plain English.

Frequently asked questions

Is the quote really free?

Yes. You tell us about the house and what you want, it gets priced properly, and you decide in your own time. No charge and no pressure.

How quickly will I hear back?

Fast. The more detail you give in the form (property type, what you want the porch to do, rough size, photos if you have them), the faster and more accurate the quote.

How much does a porch cost in Teesside?

uPVC porches run £3,500 to £7,000, brick porches £5,000 to £9,000, porches with a WC £7,000 to £12,000, porch extensions £8,000 to £15,000, roof replacement £1,500 to £3,500 and repairs £200 to £1,500.

Do I need planning permission for a porch?

Usually not: under three square metres in footprint, under three metres high and more than two metres from a boundary with a road, a porch is permitted development. Bigger porches, listed buildings, conservation areas and some new-build covenants change the position.

uPVC or brick, which is better?

Neither is universally better. uPVC wins on cost, speed and light; brick wins on permanence, solidity and resale value on traditional houses. The comparison guide on this site weighs all five factors honestly.

How long does a porch take to build?

A uPVC porch takes three to five days on site, a brick porch two to three weeks, a porch with a WC four to six weeks, and a porch roof replacement one to three days.

Can I have a downstairs toilet in a porch?

Yes, if the porch is built deep enough (around two metres) and the drains can be reached economically. It costs £7,000 to £12,000 and building regulations always apply to the WC.

Which areas do you cover?

All TS postcodes: Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Billingham, Thornaby, Redcar, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Hartlepool, Yarm, Ingleby Barwick and everywhere between, TS1 through TS27.

Will I be pressured to buy?
